Counselling

Counselling: Children

Children learn best through play. That is why the work we do with children incorporates play and hands-on activities through which children learn skills to manage emotions, deal with stressors, and develop confidence in who they are.

Prior to working with your child, we will meet with you to discuss concerns and set goals for counselling. We often work with children to build skills that help with:

*Emotional regulation * ADHD* Anxiety and stress * Depression * Behavioural concerns * Self-Esteem

We have practitioners that are trained in play therapy. Reach out to see who might be the best fit for your child.

Counselling: Youth

As children move into adolescence, they begin learning more about themselves and who they want to become as adults. This is a transitional period, and many teens face challenges as they navigate high school, their social interactions, and their identity. Teens are emerging adults and we treat them as such, by showing them respect, compassion, and trusting that they want to be the best version of themselves (even if that desire is buried under a tangled mess of emotions).

Our first goal when working with teens is for them to feel truly seen and understood. Once that is established we work to help them discover what is most important to them, what kind of person they want to be, and how their behaviours and decisions might be getting in the way of that. We won’t lecture or talk down to teens, but we will challenge them to become the best version of themselves based on their strengths, passions, and tapping into their authentic selves (which are so easily lost in the social pressures of high school).

We can handle whatever issues your teen throws at us (or if not, we will help you find someone who can!). That said, we have particular interest/focus in the following:

*ADHD *Addiction *Anxiety *Depression *Healthy Relationships *Self-Harm *Suicidal Thoughts *Body Image *Sexuality and Gender Identity *Career Exploration/Counselling

Counselling: Adults

If you are reading this, it is likely that you have come to a challenging time in your life and have decided maybe it is time to seek a new perspective. Perhaps you are looking for clarity about what you want from life and what is standing in your way. Maybe you need an opportunity to build skills to handle the stress, worry, or emotions that cloud your vision. Or maybe you just need a safe and comfortable space to talk about the overwhelming thoughts and feelings with someone who gets it. Someone who really sees you – the ‘you’ that often gets hidden or feels like “too much”.

We are here for it. We want to help you through this and into a future where you no longer need us (the goal of any good therapist should be to work themselves out of a job with each and every client!).

Check our Practitioners' bios for more specific information about each of our areas of focus, but some of the issues we love to work with include:

Anxiety and panic * Body image * Depression * Stress * Life & career transitions * Addiction * ADHD * Suicidal ideation * Relationships * Self-harm
